Nobody to vote for? No problem! Here's a poll about voting against. Don't limit yourself to just one, there's so many to dislike! Since there's so few to be for, what about the one(s) you might put up with? Again, vote for as many you as can stand! Can't stand any? You can always vote NO!

Ever since I heard that Huckabee doesn't believe in evolution....

Neither does George W. Bush. Nor did Ronald Reagan. Clinton dodged the question when he was asked. I don't know what Bush Sr.'s position is but I'd expect him to also be unaccepting, since he definitely said that atheists should have no rights as citizens and refused to retract the statement when given a chance to do so.

Note that while Clinton dodged it, the ones who affirmed it have proven to be complete fuck-ups when all is said and done...

But so was Clinton. Between his philandering in the Oval Office and such assinine policies as "Don't Ask Don't Tell" he helped make the Democratic Party look like total buffoons and did little for the country either.

Except get it out of debt. Something the GOP promptly put it right back into, in spades.

A good point, though I don't think Clinton himself gets much credit for that. It had more to do with economic cycles that move slowly as a result of things we don't entirely understand. Mind, I generally despise the Republicans and consider them to be the worst sort of hypocrites. But the Democrats have fallen a long way in the last couple of decades too.

Does it make sense to despise a group, or specific individuals?

Does it make sense to attribute a unified ideology to a group of people who demonstrably through any number of methods, don't have a unified ideology?

Does it make sense to despise Republicans and consider them to be the worst sort of hypocrites in light of your responses to the first two questions.

I submit to you that a rationality test of your ideology can be done by substituting Republican with "Democrat", "Muslim", "Jew", "German", "Mexican", "Illegal Immigrant", "Black", "White", or "Carrier Pigeon".

Only if you interpret "Republicans" to mean individuals rather than the public policies of the party as a whole. The party has a fairly clear direction and policy. Individuals may disagree with it, but the party continues to move in the same direction regardless of minority opinion.

So, a better term for your opinion is,

"I despise the Republican Party because of the party's clear direction and policy."

This is distinctly different than the generic statement of, "I despise Republicans."

I just wanted to be clear on where you stood, because I was getting echoes of "[insert ideology here] is despciable as is anyone associated with it."

As for me, I disagree with the actions (not necessarily the platforms) of both the democrats and republicans, but don't go so far as to despise them as groups. There are individuals that I find reprehensible, but even those I can't bring myself to actually despise.

I "voted against" Ron Paul (whom I know little about) mainly because his name can be mistaken for Ru Paul. That's the only reason. :)

Last question was hard for me, since I'm constitutionally ineligible to vote in the Presidential election I *have* to vote NO, but there are a few candidates that interest me and I wouldn't mind voting for if I had a chance.
