Pushy bunny, too.
1 October 2007 20:43I mentioned that
sistaur's cat seemed to be a pushycat. I visited again this weekend and the cat wasn't quite as pushy. Maybe I was less inviting. But I found out that the bunny can get pushy too. I was eating, or rather I was trying to eat, some raisins. I very soon had Wanda (Wanda Wabbit) in my face about them. There was no dissuading Wanda, either. As far she was concerned, all raisins belonged to her, or ought to.
I knew that large herbivores could get pushy about sweet treats. I knew one fellow who said a horse of his, if he could speak, would have said something like, "What are you doing eating my apple!?" for example. I hadn't really expected this roughly cat-sized herbivore to get that pushy.
Wanda did get a couple -- just a couple -- raisins, but I ate most of them. Standing up, keeping the raisins out of rabbit reach. I couldn't sit down again in peace until I'd washed the raisin smell off of my hands.

Date: 2 Oct 2007 02:32 (UTC)*giggles* You haven't been paying attention to my stories about Pepper- Warrior Princess, have you?
Raisins are right up there with Craisins and bits of dried pineapple as primo bunny-treats. And just ask John about the time Pepper climbed up on his lap and yanked the dish of snack mix right out of his hands! (Snacks went everywhere and she made off with a pretzel in the confusion)
If it helps you resist (because the little buggers will do their damnedest to convince you that they are staaaaaarving), remember that too much sugar can easily throw off the bacteria balance in a bunny's digestive system, leading to poopy-butt or worse.

Date: 2 Oct 2007 02:50 (UTC)I've been reading some of your bunny adventures, but evidently either not all or not all has been sticking. And I did recall that there was some good reason, beyond a fat rabbit, that she shouldn't get more than just a couple raisins. Just enough to get her out of my face so I could get up without giving Wanda a flying lesson.
The two dogs don't much care what I might be munching on. They only seem care if I'm preparing anything in the kitchen (That's where food comes from!) and the cat is more interested in drinking my water if she can get to it. This was a new experience for me and I simply wasn't expecting such an aggressive level of interest. It's one thing to hear of Jekyll and Hyde, it's another to directly experience it.
Either Wanda wasn't around, or was more interested in some cardboard, or didn't like the spicy snack mix that I ate sometime that same evening.
