Got around to dealing with my federal and state taxes. The result is that the refunds will pay for the new tires bought a couple weeks back and still leave a good chunk which will take care of most of my expected RCFM expenses. So that's one less thing to worry quite so much about.

And with that expected expense mostly taken care of I can concentrate on other things.

And speaking of RCFM, a couple things are already taken care of. Time off work for the trip has been taken care of and RCFM registration has been sent in. Now if the hotel reservation folks would respond so I know I'll have a place to stay.

If you continue to have problems with the hotel please let me know!! Also let RCFM know you are registering to go to RCFM due to a certain feline pestering you, it is part of my con mascot contract to get people to show up to RCFM

Actually it's [livejournal.com profile] kinkyturtle who is reserving the hotel room, we'll be sharing the suite and the cost thereof.

As for your pestering.. you might get partial credit for that. The big thing is that RCFM is still relatively small and new.

When I first went to renfaires, it was interesting, but I didn't feel a sort of.. belonging.. until I'd been to a small faire. There, instead of being just another face/potential customer, there was some interaction. And even an invite to a post-close gathering (at an area restaurant) one night. I started actually meeting people, not just seeing acts. No I know many folks not just by act or product, but as people.

AnthroCon looked interesting from KT's diaries, but when I was there it felt rather like a big faire (though not as corporate) with being lost in things. I'm hoping RCFM, being smaller, will be something like my small faire experiences. Not identical, of course. Part of the faire acceptance was that I was dressed for it. I've even been asked where my booth was or what my act was. It seems that while I might not dress with historical accuracy, the good footwear suggested I wasn't "just" a patron. I can't use that bit at a FurMeet, of course. (No fursuit, and no real talking even I did do that.)

As I'm not an artist, I don't know how things will go. It's very easy to see that the fursuiters and the artists are the folks who get recognized. While I'm not trying to make a name for myself, I do want to avoid the complete "lost in the crowd" feeling I had at AC.
