COLT again...
8 December 2003 12:40Last April I wrote how I seem to fall behind in COLT stuff every summer. There were a couple entries about it, such as this one. One other thing came to mind recently as I resumed the effort (at least I've resumed in late November & December rather than April this time) as not helping: The lack of any actual schedule other than "Try to keep up and it'd be nice to finish things." So now I have a schedule.
First, here's what's missing:

There was no issue for December 1995, and the February 2004 issue is out now, and I am already working on it. In the past couple weeks I took care of 97, 104, and 108, so I feel like I'm getting some stuff done. And having this chart helps to measure progress.

This assumes taking care of at least three issues a month, which is not too difficult, though like before sustaining things will be the trick, as will resuming after any break (like, say, going to Houston for a week for Christmas). I do like this schedule as it doesn't seem overly ambitious. I could probably do a bit more, but I know I'll need breaks here and there. It has a few milestones not all that far off, and will provide a bit of variety - doing a three or four February issues in a row would get tiresome fast. It's not perfect. Some years don't much attention for a while. But it is something, and as I'm taking care of 109 this week, I could take break for the rest of the year and not off schedule, but I think I'll be better off pressing on, if only a little bit. After all, this outline is a minimal thing. Getting done early would be nice, too.
It's a bit daunting to see this as a projection and that it will take nearly two years to get caught up. At least I can watch the progress and have the "year resumed" and "year finished" milestones.
