[livejournal.com profile] bronxelf_ag001's comment following up my last post reminded me of an odd dream or two I had a couple nights ago.

In one I was looking at a wide spot in a river. A ways away I could see what looked like a waterfall except it was not simply a falls. There was a thing like a 'squirrel cage' fan, but made of metal slats. It was a simple design, but not a good one, as the slats were like a fence might be, not angled. And the weird part was that the thing was turning against the flow of the water. The top moved up and away from the high water as the bottom went down and through the water, opposite of it would move if moved by the water. It was carrying water over it.

I was in the river, somehow. And I noted that the thing, whatever it was, was the one place it would be best to avoid. And then I wound up at it, then on it. It was very big, and not too fast. And that's when the dream went lucid, in a fashion. I realized, in the dream, that the situation was wrong. It wasn't wrong because the thing was moving backwards. It was wrong because, "I'm not stupid enough to do this." And then I woke up.

The next dream was, as far as I can gather, inspired by a news story about traffic that had been diverted from an old bridge to a new bridge - only the paving hadn't been finished on the new bridge yet. In this dream I was walking along someplace in the country and came to a rather long wooden footbridge and started over it. Well into the crossing there was a gap too long to jump. There were no railings or such in the gap, either, so climbing around was out, though I didn't even consider it. And yet I did not turn back. I just kept going, staying on where the bridge should be by sheer force of will, or sheer suspension of disbelief. I remember realizing what I was doing, being aware of the absence of support, and that I had to not think about that too much. It was like the bridge was there so long as I didn't realize it wasn't, cartoon physics style except there was nothing cartoony about anything. I think I made it across before waking up. I do not remember falling. I'm not sure if I realized this was a dream or not. It would not surprise me if I had.

Interesting. I always like to hear about your dreams. I had one a couple of nights ago that was very odd. I was out the back at the house where I grew up. A few friends were there with me, and we were attacked by a swarm of bees. I ran into the bees, and just as some touched my face, I woke up. Very weird. I don't dream about that house at all, usually. Or bees for that matter. Ick.
