Mankato

The afternoon was taken up by a solo trip to Mankato (one hour each way, not counting in-city navigation). This for a little shopping at the Riverside Mall as that was where I expected to find most if not all of what I was looking for.

Some fuse blocks and fuses were the first purchase. These are for the office for the DC power distribution setup which will power ham gear and scanners. Next was a wolf calendar for my sister's housemate. And I hit Suncoast and bought a couple (more) movies for the folks. That isn't everything, but it nearly finishes up the stuff for my family... and my sister's housemate.

I'm glad to get this done before Thanksgiving, avoiding the madding crowd that comes after. It was amazing, the screaming brat factor was low enough that I didn't even put in my earplugs, which is more than a bit unusual.

But the biggest surprise was Big Ed's Chicago Hot Dogs. They had the Chicago style Vienna dog -- and they did it right. Amazing, actual non-lousy food in a mall. Not just non-lousy, but good. Nice to have found it. Too bad it's up in Mankato and in a mall... but maybe around mid-January things in the mall will be tolerable enough for another visit.
