Headline in the Star Tribune: Black & Decker recalls 9,000 thermal coffeemakers for potential burn risk.

Anyone have a non-thermal coffeemaker?

I assume it's "thermal" (heating coil -> convection) as opposed to microwave. Why this the terminology is this way when the end result is a rise in thermal units of measure (temperature) I don't know.

My parents did, long ago. It was like a teapot except for coffee, you poured the hot water in the top. No electrical/heating components, therefore non-thermal.

Mine makes coffee using the power of positive thinking. Naturally, I don't get to drink very much coffee.
