Our younger daughter likes some of the Kideo shows on PBS. Other than that, we also pretty much only use our TV for pre-recorded shows or video games.
And at this point our TV isn't working due to the frequency change. So far, our daughter hasn't really missed it, as she is busy with other summer activities. We may wait until fall to get the TV upgrade box, if even then.
You might want to spring for a new TV actually, if you have a very old one. The digital-to-analog converter box image is significantly poorer than the broadcast quality you're used to.
I've watched cheap detective shows since I was a very little girl. Columbo, McMillan, and all the Mystery Theatre shows. Then there was Hart to Hart. Recently its all the CSI's, NCIS, and Criminal Minds. So, I thought about what channel I watch the most (Throwing in a few comedies and dramas) Wow, CBS actually came up the most watched.
I **do** like TV. Let it rot my brain like Mountain Dew and Ho Hos.
(uh, and why the "non-religious" caveat, Vakko? It's *our* responses! (For the record, I didn't vote for anything, mostly what I've been watching is Jeopardy (syndicated) and Discovery Channel (not on your list))
I built the list going from the three towers of translator stations that allegedly might serve Fairmont (they all seem to cover Fairmont "equally poorly" alas) and there are no religious stations that I recall on any of them. DuMont being the gag option in the bunch, since it collapsed in the 1950s.
There is supposedly a construction permit for a 3ABN (Three Angels Broadcasting Network) station in Fairmont, but that isn't on the air despite the permit having been issued a few years ago. I doubt I'd watch it, except perhaps for local news if they did that.
Seeing what's on TV lately, DuMont is the *best* of the bunch!
Religious station doing local news? They're about the last station I'd watch for local news, I think. (Well, that and Fox News, but that's because they're just another type of religion ... )
I would agree about news from a religious station but if it was on the air, it would be the only truly local station on the air here. Thus it would be the one most likely to be received without resorting to a large antenna. As for Fox, some of their news is annoying (not everything is a "breaking story") but not any moreso than the others, really. I know folks say Fox is biased to the right, but that is balance when everyone else is biased to the left. Curiously, the most truly balanced news coverage I've encountered has been on Public Radio.
A few years ago MPR (Minnesota Public Radio) lost what might have been the very last real interviewer. I got the idea this guy started as a reporter. Not a "journalist" but a real honest-to-goodness reporter - from the school that dealt editors who insisted, "Even if it's your mother saying she loves you, get a confirming source!" He would interview one guy one day, and ask all the questions that the left wanted asked of the guy on the right. And the next day he'd be asking all the questions the right wanted to ask the guy on the left. And he didn't let folks just say whatever they want and not answer, at least not without pointing it out. He'd usually give people about three times to come around -- and if they didn't, well, it was clear they were failing to be honest. I don't know what he's doing now, but I expect he's doing it very well.

Saying that, their *TV* output is fairly meh and I could - do! - manage happily without. I'd miss BBC Radio 4 if it ever disappeared, though.
