vakkotaur: Centaur holding bow - cartoon (orvan-offside)

While looking about web/blog-space for Penguicon and ACME images and reports I encountered a jewelry blog. Normally I'd skip right over such a thing as it holds no interest. But not this time for the image that caught my attention looked rather familiar. I know it's not the same, but... well, have a look.

The third image down is of an ox carrying a big sack of stuff. A very happy ox. A bipedal ox wearing a short sleeved shirt and shorts. I'm not sure what all the stuff he is carrying is, but in a way that also fits.

No, I'm not buying the item, but I do find it amusing. And now, between Chinese mythology, an old Rexall slogan, and perhaps insufficient sleep I think of, "Good luck to thee... from ACME!"

i'm sure it's probably expensive but it would be cute to have somebody make a clay model of that for you....
hints going out to anyone who can work in that medium...
or you could use it as an icon...

When they don't list a price, I tend to take it as a sign I can't afford it. I'm sure it would be neat to have something like it, but I'm not going to go begging for it.

I have saved the image and have already tried a quick & dirty resize in GIMP which showed me that it would need some color tweaking to preserve sufficient detail. I might do that yet, but I have quite a number of things to do (deal with Penguicon images, get ready for RCFM) that will keep me plenty busy for some time.

Or, without cropping off the rear edge of the bag:

I just cropped it as close as possible and Sharpened the heck out of it.

That is amazingly coincidental!

When you have thought about Orvan in the past, were you aware about the Chinese mythology, or bringing good luck and riches?

No, I really didn't think of Chinese mythology at all. According to that, or at least the highly simplified restaurant placemat version of, I am a ram (or "fire sheep" but that's just the year, I know there's rather more to it than that) and it always seemed disappointing that I wasn't "horse."

I have NO plans for a ram fursuit, btw.

Heh. I'd forgotten that that show was sponsored by Rexall's, too. The shows I have with the original commercials intact are all Camel cigarette sponsored shows. The line Vakko quoted is fixed in my mind from the opening of the Phil Harris-Alice Faye show, which shows something, I guess.
