Reality can be a mighty strange place. Or people can be mighty silly. Or the one leads to the other.

There is, or at least was, a group calling itself "Recreate '68" pushing an antiwar agenda. What amuses me is that they scheduled things around the Democrat's Convention in Denver. Luckily for Denver, the 1968 Democrat's Convention was not re-created. But don't they realize what else happened in 1968? Humphrey lost.

A solid grasp of history is not the Left's strong suit.

Nor is it the Right's. The difference is, the Right's supporters don't care. (I mean, hell, they re-elected Bush. They re-elected Bush!) I'm sorry, was that my outside voice? (Thanks for the phrase, [livejournal.com profile] jcw_da_dmg, as you can see I've already gleefully stole it and plan to drive it into the ground. :) )

If they elect McCain, this will once and for all confirm my theory.

Considering who the alternative was, the result should not have been any great surprise. The Democrats are trying something new this time around: They're running a candidate.

Albiet a candidate with one weakness strongly mirroring Kerry's -- a history of association with the radical, anti-American Left.

OTOH, Obama's more honest. And nothing he's done even skirts treason, unlike Kerry's participation in VVAW.

Indeed. There are plenty of problems with him, but at least he has a bit more to say than just "I'm not the other guy."

How was re-electing Bush a "failure to grasp history" equivalent to the Left's desire to "recreate 1968," an election they lost?

I think I can definitively state that "recreate 1968" is NOT the desire of the ENTIRE Left!

I'll let it go this time.

And in all future instances.
