Many (including Obama) have said that a McCain presidency would be another term of Bush, while I somewhat agree, I wouldn't absolutely agree. George Bush was definitely one of a kind, and McCain seems to be wise enough to stay away from that while still being quite Republican.

I have also compared Obama to recent politicians before (namely JFK) but in an oratorical way, I can't see him being anything like JFK or Carter policy-wise were he to win the White House. The president I think he's the most like (and I mentioned this in my post) is Lincoln, but that wasn't an option.

And, my God yes it needs more Rufus T. Firefly (but then I speak as a Marxist, tendance Groucho.)

I didn't answer #3 as I would like a third choice. "We are all doomed."

Sometimes I get the feeling that Barack Obama is a genuine good guy, but there are other times when it feels like he's following Bill Clinton's "tell them what they want to hear until you're elected" path to the White House. Is Barack embracing any unpopular positions and sticking to them even when the public disapproves? Doing that takes integrity, and I'm not sure he has it.

I honestly can't say McCain's any better. He's been steeped in D.C. politics for so long that I doubt he'll distinguish himself if he wins.
