A couple weeks ago I posted about caffeine as it seemed to be having a rather potent effect. I haven't had caffeine for a some time now, but right now I'm experiencing the same odd altered state.

At breakfast I had a couple cups of decaff and assuming it wasn't a mix-up and really was decaff that suggests something other than caffeine is having an effect. The biggest deviation from the last several days is that I had one cup with a packet of sugar and that I had a muffin with a very sugary frosting. I'd never really noticed the "sugar rush" that I'd heard of, but maybe it was because I had a fairly high sugar intake much of the time. Now that I don't take in much straight sugar, it packs a wallop. It seems I have another reason to look out for sugary things. The feeling isn't bad, but it also isn't something I care much for.

Well you know I'll back you up on your observation 100%, from personal experience. Sugar is also an appetite stimulant for many because of it's effect on your insulin levels...the spike of the rush, followed for many by the crash later which will make your brain want to search for more food. Which over the course of a day, can make you consume more food than you intended to (the intake of sugar primes the brain for you to search out more for more sugar 'highs', so the cycle repeats throughout the day).

Also the abuse to your insulin system can cause it to eventually malfunction and diabetes can develop. Even if that doesn't happen, the insulin ups and downs all day can leave you exhausted and wondering why your energy levels are so poor.

Sugar, to me = the devil. Yet, it's hard to stop dancing with the devil ;)

I too have bad sugar reactions. If I forget and have sugar near to bedtime, I will not be able to sleep. It is easy to overlook how much sugar we eat, especially when so many foods have it hidden in the ingredients.

Hope all is well.

Hugs.

Oh so easy to overlook. And it was probably as well that that was in the morning, though there was a bit of a crash later on. Things seem to fairly well with me. Busy, getting ready for RCFM, which is coming up fast. I have to finish by Tuesday evening as ideally travel starts Wednesday morning.

I think as soon as I get back from RCFM, I might make a few posts - for the next year or so, so I can deal with a few things earlier!
