A few nights ago I was flipping through the channels and caught part of an Obama speech. He's quite an orator. He sounds great. He inspires positive feelings. And he says nothing. Judging the speech by raw emotion, it was wonderful. Applying logic to the speech, it was infuriating. I think this Day by Day cartoon nails it:

I have the same feeling about him. I can just see him ascending the White House steps on a victory built on pure charisma, then as soon as he's in, immediately repealing the Bush tax cuts, raising taxes on top of that, creating new taxes for health care and carbon trading and heaven knows what else, and the electorate will pause and think, "Wait a minute, I didn't vote for that!"

It'll be like when Bill Clinton got elected the first time, only much worse.

They're politicians. None of them are honest. In fact, I think the candidates should be compared in terms of who is less dishonest than whom.

You know what, I have reached the point when all I ask out of a president is the ability to correctly pronounce words and effectively speak a full sentence. Yes. That *is* how low my priorities are.
