Sweeney Todd

Visiting sistaur this weekend included going to see Sweeney Todd. I had not seen any other version and until only a couple days before didn't really know what it was about at all.

Without spoiling anything, I can say that it certainly had Tim Burton's stamp on it and it worked. There might have been a bit more blood than I really cared for, but it was never inappropriate as a horror movie might get to be. This was a musical comedy and a musical tragedy (if that's a spoiler, life is full of [nasty] surprises for you), with a set up and setting that could have been the makings for horror film but was better than that.

I won't be rushing out to see it again, nor will I be rushing to get the DVD when it comes out. It's a good movie, but for me it's in the category of movies I that wouldn't go out of my way to see again, but wouldn't change the TV channel to avoid either.
