During the trip from Indianapolis to Chattanooga there came a point where the kids were telling knock knock jokes. This went on for a while. After the repetitious banana joke which finally ends with orange, it was getting rather tiresome. The result was the following:
<Kid> Knock knock.
<
vakkotaur> Tetra-ethyl lead.

Date: 2 Aug 2007 17:20 (UTC)As you knwo we recently took a long trip with our kids, and yes, my four-year-old daughter liked telling knock-knock jokes in the car, but, being four doesn't really get the concept:
Knock-kock
Who's there?
Bless you! *hahahaha* (forgetting that there's an intermediate "set up" before a punchline, usually)
Then she'd try to do knock-knock jokes with her two-and-a-half year old brother, who doesn't understand the concept (she would yell at him "SAY 'WHO'S THERE?'!!")
Should try your ending though. If she's going to get surreal, so will I. :)

Date: 2 Aug 2007 17:30 (UTC)Actually the kids were rather well behaved and that was about the worst bit of the trip so it wasn't bad at all. It was actually the bit before we started out that was problematic. The kids seemed to think that being in the car would speed up the start of the trip, but it did the opposite as they were then in the way of the final loading.
