On the extended trip that went from Dayton to Huntsville and various other places, I started drinking V8 juice. I did that as it was a simple way to get at least something vegetable, even if in juice form. Unfortunately the major flavor of V8 is tomato juice, which is not something I like very much. So I'd hold my breath and chug the V8 and then drink something else quick to wash the remaining not so nice flavor away.

I'd heard of a spicy version of V8 and a few days ago found that one of the stores in town carries it. I bought some. The spiciness really helps put the tomato flavor in its place. With this improved version, I think I could stand to have some V8 almost every day.

I actually really like plain V8, at room temperature. It is pretty high in salt, for those who worry about that--luckily I don't think I have to right now.

Just for the record...

Spicy V-8 and vodka make a great Bloody Mary...

[livejournal.com profile] tarsa finds that she needs to add salt and hot sauce to V8 to make it better, so that probably makes "spicy" V8 right there out of the original stuff.

Me, I can barely stand the stuff, even doctored up...

I just wish they had calcium-fortified Spicy Hot V8, I like the spicy flavor better and I need the calcium.
