Penguicon (Friday)

Orvan is here and he made a few deliveries yesterday. He also gave away a bunch of cow tails candy "courtesy of Acme." Once people realized it was free candy it went over well, with only one person claiming to be avoiding it not due to dietary concerns but "I don't think I want to eat anything from Acme."

I was a bit concerned about the sort of reaction he'd get, but he seems to be very well accepted. The worst he's experienced is people getting his species wrong. He's not a gnu, nor is he a moose, and he's not Space Moose. That's not bad, really. The gnu confusion can be expected with this being a linux convention.

On the other hand, or hoof, even a short outing gets extended as Orvan is stopped for hugs and photographs. He's even gotten invitations to a room party or two. There's one ribbon that Orvan got that I'm not sure I would have gotten. One guy was giving out "Bulls hit" ribbons and when he spotted Orvan... it had to be done. The ox did make a couple pugilistic poses.

Oh yeah, I'm having a good time here at Penguicon as well.

The delivery service was cool. Orvan should do that more often.

Thank you. I suspect that if at all possible Orvan will be back next year. I have no idea what he might be delivering, but there's about a year to think of something or beg for suggestions.
