The change to mostly compact fluorescent lights a few days ago resulted in part of one socket being exposed on one fixture. As this was on the ceiling in a closet it wasn't too big a deal, but it was annoying. Today that fixture got changed. A plain fixture, bare bulb, is now in place without any parts of the light circuit exposed. The old fixture seemed more like a job of plumbing than wiring to me. The other original light fixture of the same design convinced me it will get replaced. I thought the bulb had burned out and went to change it. The bulb was good, but the weight of the collar that holds up the decorative glass was pulling it out just far enough for things not to work. It's a real pain to deal with that fixture.
The forecast for today was for freezing rain and snow. Most of the day it was just windy, but in the late afternoon or early evening there was thunder and a burst what appeared to be pea-sized hail. The forecast for the weekend is for a mix of freezing rain and lots of snow. So far we've been lucky and things have gone by to north and to the south, but have missed Fairmont. I'm not counting on that continuing. The snow can be dealt with if it happens, but I really don't want to have to deal with things being iced up from freezing rain.
