Thursday - arrived, checked in, unloaded car, unpacked, left room just before [livejournal.com profile] doodlesthegreat arrived.. whoops. Registered in the evening, this time without problem. The county faire theme worked well, overall. Having the paper that the cotton candy was wrapped on and no place to toss it in line was a nit. Went out for supper with [livejournal.com profile] kinkyturtle to Panera. I met [livejournal.com profile] jugularjaguar & [livejournal.com profile] chakawolf for a bit, later.

Friday - Was rattled out of bed by power hammers. Complaining about that later that night got a significant savings on the room, at least. Had too big a breakfast at Richard Walker's Pancake House. Met up with, or perhaps I should say encountered, [livejournal.com profile] catwoman69y2k who spotted me and bounded over practically pouncing me. That's a very nice way to start a con. [livejournal.com profile] jugularjaguar asked if I'd be willing to partake in a bit in the Furry Variety Show, but it starts (if on time, and gentleman place your bets on that happening...) at freaking midnight. Bailed out as I figured I ought to be conscious if in it, and that wasn't likely. Things got started rather late. Dealer's Den and Artist's Alley could have opened much earlier without any problem, as far as I could see. Moving the whole schedule up and having the Variety Show at semi-sane sane hour would be a Good Idea. Met up with Altivo and Orvan did a couple deliveries. Pondered watching some of the FVS and opted to bail as I was just too tired to even watch it.

Saturday - started later as we could sleep in and the ridiculously late FVS kept many up the night before. Had just enough to get by until the sponsor's brunch. Doodles didn't think much of it, but I found it pretty good and ate too much in the good company of [livejournal.com profile] altivo. Took part in the fursuit parade and I thought was near the front, but was number 80 in the count. I found out later that I was in the first half after all. Wandered the halls and such in suit and got mixed up in a couple things, of which I do not alas have any pictures. I went to the spandexfurs room party for an hour or so and I suspect I missed a lot by leaving early, but I had a good time as Orvan while I was missing it. Also I had the strange experience there of feeling both over- and under- dressed at the same time.

Sunday - Made use of the con suite for too much of the day, met [livejournal.com profile] film2edit as closing ceremonies were going on (I didn't get there early enough to get in and didn't feel like trying to get through the crowd at the door or hanging in it). Opted not to have another Olive Garden experience this year and had supper with Rick "cow" Lauterbach and BlueHeeler. Evidently there are are other furs in MN, but I've not been aware of them. Of course, much activity is in the Twin Cities and that puts me off of things and not just by distance. On our way out we spotted a bunch of other furs, taking [livejournal.com profile] santa_fox out to supper for his birthday and so we stayed with them for a while. BlueHeeler left early, but the rest stayed on. I sat near and spoke with [livejournal.com profile] stalkingcat which was a bit strange at first but after a couple minutes it was just like to talking with pretty much anyone. Somewhere in all this I wound up sketching (more like vandalizing, I fear) in [livejournal.com profile] babsbunny's sketchbook. Somehow I seem to mess things up, in some way, for Babs everytime without trying.

I think I only made it to a few scheduled events: the fursuit meet & greet, the fursuit parade, and the hoof & horn panel. I'm sure I missed a few things, but that was unavoidable. Had I made it to other panels I'm sure I'd have missed something else.

Monday - I had planned to be on the road earlier than when I did. Doodles was packed up and ready about when I was, but then we had to help out Babs & [livejournal.com profile] sqrlly and then breakfast er lunch at Richard Walkers where I had a half-order and still had probably too much. Babs, thankfully, forgot the name she gave my car at RCFM a last year and renamed it "Herschel" which is a less ghetto name, at least than what she'd inflicted upon it before. Evidently Babs & my experiences of RCFM are dead opposite, I discovered. Too bad, as I found RCFM to be the friendliest and most welcoming convention I've encountered - and it's the one where the Olive Garden bit didn't suck for me in some way.

I'm sure I left out quite a bit, but that's what I remember at the moment. I didn't take notes as things were going on as I was busy doing things rather than writing about them. Photos will, eventually, follow. I was asked what the highlight of the convention was for me and there wasn't one. It's not there was no highlight, it was there were so many. The official events I attended were nice enough, but the one-to-one conversations with [livejournal.com profile] altivo and with [livejournal.com profile] chakawolf were quite something as well. And of course, I spent a good chunk of time fursuitting and that worked out quite well indeed.

I was at the s pandexfurs party a bit late actually . Haha. We missed eachother. REad my LJ and you will see that I almost didnt make the party at all. Too much to do Saturday night.

PS: Sorry if I wasnt as close to orvan but I didnt knwo who was in there as first. I have learned from experience that you want to be careful how you treat a fursuit character when you dont know who the player is inside of it.

Yes, there was quite a bit going on Saturday night. Ah well. Maybe next year.

Whoops. Something else I need to remember when in suit. Sorry if I caused you any discomfort. That was not my intent.

actually it was not uncomfortable for me. It was more of "Hmm...who is in there?". Furries are a varied bunch when it comes to personal boundaries. I remember hugging suiters often even if I didnt know who was inside and apparently some were uncomfortable about it. Now I just dont take my chances and either try and ask who is in there or am wiser about what I do.

Ah, you were concerned if I would be uncomfortable! While I giggle, I do see how it is a real concern. I'll have to keep that sort of thing in mind as well.
