New Old Hardware
10 October 2006 13:01I'd been having some trouble with a KVM switch as while percheron kept on working right, belgian would lose pointer sanity and the trackball wouldn't track when switch away and back. This weekend that KVM was replaced with one of a couple that
jmaynard got by way of
wendyzski. Now I can switch between belgian and percheron without losing the pointer and needing to restart things.

The Belkin, which has a selector switch, that it replaced is going into the basement where I have a few machines that tend to only be on one at a time anyway. Also, the Belkin is old enough that is has the larger keyboard connector and serial connectors (as well as PS/2) for the trackball.
I've noticed one minor issue with the Compaq KVM. When I switch back to belgian after a long time away and the screensaver has kicked in, the block of video used by the KVM for machine selection persists. Just activating the menu again (Print Screen) and selecting belgian again takes care of that.
