MFF: Room reserved

Somewhere on LiveJournal recently I saw a comment that the Midwest FurFest hotel block was filling rather quickly and made a note to myself to reserve a room before that became a problem. I would be surprised if it was already. Last night I finally made a reservation and was told that the hotel is undergoing renovation so some hassles (beyond the usual ones) might be encountered.

I'm not looking for a roommate just yet. If jmaynard attends MFF, which depends on his schedule, then that's that. If not, then I'll be looking for someone else to help mutually reduce costs.

So you got them to recognize that there even was such a block of rooms?

I tried last week and was told they had no special rate nor rooms in existence for Midwest Fur Fest or MFF.

It wasn't even a matter of getting them to recognize anything. The person I dealt with asked me what brought me to the area, I answered, was quoted the rate on the MFF web site. It all worked about as well as I could hope for, even with the volunteering of the information that renovations would be ongoing during the time of my reservation.

Hey there! Sorry to dig up this old post, but I wanted to mention that Midwest FurFest's hotel liaison (takaza, my husband) contacted our sales representative and asked what renovations might be taking place in November. Her response was that she knows of no renovations that will be taking place at that time, and would love to know what the staff is telling people about this. Was the person you spoke to any more specific about what renovations would be going on? We will continue to investigate this as well, and if it is not true we'll make sure that the front desk staff isn't giving out misinformation.

The timing isn't a problem.

There wasn't anything specific, just that the Hyatt would be undergoing renovations and that this would be happening through November. I think I would have posted in more detail if I had had any more. I'd like to know what, if anything, is going on as well.
