A bit on Animaniacs

Where "Akira" developed drama and complexity until managing to create a world and a story scary in their evilness and passionating in their sheer size, "Animaniacs" distilled comedy and wits until obtaining an extremely pure "vis comica" that got you drunk with its marvelous hilarity and astonished with its unstoppable stream of incredible ideas, everything with an animation that gathered all that was good and beautiful in cartoons since their birth in the shadow of the First World War. A sad fact: this series never arrived to Spain and I never watched it on television. But that's because in Spain, cartoons have to inculcate the children with values that minorities pull out their asses in their own benefit, or to die if they refuse. And the wonderfully immoral and funny Animaniacs crashed against the only wall they couldn't destroy, the wall of the intolerance disguised as political correction.

Thank you very much for finding my two cents on the Animaniacs interesting, Vakkotaur. I discovered Animaniacs twelve years too late but I'm really impressed by their outstanding virtues, and every clip of Animaniacs I watch surprises me positively. I guess I'm not saying anything that you didn't already know, though :)

Not too late at all. Just not as soon as some others.

The first DVD of Animaniacs and of Pinky and the Brain is being released (in the U.S.A.) 25 July 2006. These will be the "first season" for each show. Animaniacs later seasons aren't considered as reliably amusing as the first season, but are still amusing overall. The short second season is might be 'worst' as it was put together in hurry. Supposedly material that was made but not deemed good enough for the first 65 episodes was quickly assembled into six episodes.

On another note, the picture you used as a link for "inkblots" is by verypinkygirl. I was at her (and pharwarner's) wedding a few weeks ago. They've only gotten home in the last few days, so she's been rather busy.
