Monday was a bit of a sleep-in day, which was just as well. [livejournal.com profile] deyna_otter, [livejournal.com profile] kinkyturtle (I think Raketh was somewhere else, probably at the space center) and I all went to Ruby Tuesday (I think) for a late breakfast which was really an early lunch. I thought Deyna would be leaving earlier but he seemed to want to make RCFM last as long as he could. We stopped a few places and I looked for a post card. I had no luck with that. Eventually Deyna decided it was time to get going and only then remembered that there was an issue of time zones and that effectively made it an hour later than he'd figured.

Deyna dropped us off at the hotel and was on his way. Not long after that, Raketh returned. I'm not sure if he was looking for something or what, but he, KT, and I went out again looking around. Again my search for post cards was disappointing. Time passed and we tried Cracker Barrel in desperation and found some generic Alabama post cards but nothing Huntsville specific. We tried the space center, only to find it closed. The picture post card seems to be fading into history.

It was getting to be time to go the post-RCFM party at [livejournal.com profile] brodycatsmouth's place. We stopped at a book store for one more try, and still came up empty on the Huntsville post card. KT found a sudoku book or two he wanted, Raketh found something, and I now have a Huntsville map. It only took to the end of the my third visit to the place for me to get it. If nothing else, anyone acting as navigator will have a proper map to use. I think there's a map in the RCFM packet, but it never seems to make it to the car.

The party at Brody's was a nice gathering, and for me it was better than it was last year. The gathering might have been smaller, and I spent a bit more time inside as there wasn't really loud music being played. Someone had a recording of Animalympics which I don't recall having seen before which is hardly a surprise. I wonder how many of the 1970s and early 1980s references I didn't get.

[livejournal.com profile] chakawolf had a story or two I heard. I hope he's feeling better about things soon. A bunch of things all added up negatively for him this trip. I got the impression that any one thing, while annoying and bad, wouldn't have had too big an effect, but things just kept on happening.

[livejournal.com profile] jugularjaguar had an itchy tale of "lice head girl" about a favor gone horribly wrong. [livejournal.com profile] kiwihunter8 had an interesting label for the furry folks who actually do what they say they are going to do, or if they don't, at least have good reason and let folks know what's going on: The League of Responsible Furs. Draconis mis-heard things and I would not be surprised if there was a skit or such about the members of the League of Irresponsible Furs.

Eventually it got late again and this time I did need to be up early. Back at the hotel we all spent some time packing up (some had been done earlier) and a few items were found that didn't belong to Raketh, KT, or me. Furp had earlier retrieved a videotape, but I have a few things I need to send to Deyna (which I will mail next week - I'm busy dealing with post-RCFM and pre-Siouxland now, and Siouxland will take up my weekend). I'm sure I can imagine what the event organizers have to deal with. That is not a request to show me by getting me on some committee or such, either, thank you very much.
