Saturday seems like a bit of a blur now, as does Sunday, though it wasn't really hectic for me. Sometime over the convention, I'm not sure when, I handed off some goodies to [livejournal.com profile] kiwihunter8 and [livejournal.com profile] brodycatsmouth. I later saw some of these used as a prizes for the Iron Artist competition. That surprised me a bit. Mainly I hope the participants weren't disappointed with that. I think that was for third place, and the higher prizes were more substantial.

The sponsor's & booster's lunch had me worried. It was at Ryan's. We were on our way (I rode with someone else) when we saw one the convention vehicles going the other way and someone pointing. Evidently there are two Ryan's not all that far from each other in Huntsville and I wound up going to both of them. The food was a bit better this time and there was service that seemed actually understand the concept of service, so maybe there's hope. Maybe the experience of the first Ryan's poisoned my attitude, or it could be that it's a buffet and the selection was largely stuff I should avoid or don't even consider to be food (some of the horrors of southern cooking) but I still don't feel like going to a Ryan's again.

I'm not sure if it was Friday or Saturday, but when there was a bit of time, [livejournal.com profile] kiwihunter8 took some needed measurements for an Orvan partial suit and showed me some faux fur samples. I concurred with her suggestions on the furs and also gave her the shoes I was going use for the hooves. Hopefully I'll have a (partial) fursuit of my own in a few months. I'd like to have it at MFF, but if I have to wait until RCFM 2007, well, I'd rather have it right than fast.

Sublevel-3, a musical group, was there and they performed. I generally don't go such performances, or the dances, as the music too loud for me to be comfortable. I tried listening to hear if I'd like their stuff if it weren't played as loud and found I likely would not. The lyrics were buried well under the instruments and I just don't care for that. Lyrics are rather meaningless when they can't be heard or understood.

I had brought several bottles and cans of root beer and ginger ale for Draconis' "Beer and Ale Tasting" but I hadn't know how he was going to play it up. He was in room 2222 and set the time of the event for 2:22 AM. That combination of 2s might have been interpreted by some as an indication that [livejournal.com profile] 2_gryphon would be there. That was not the case. The signs posted for this event had once read "No ID? No problem!" and con security and/or hotel staff quite naturally got upset by that, and that was blacked out even after the gimmick (root beer and ginger ale, no alcohol) was explained.

Hope does spring eternal and you'd expect people who saw that line would wonder how it was possible and figure out that there was a gimmick to it. But evidently Chaka (who also knew what was going on) had been getting offers from folks willing to bring real beer. I stayed up late (or was it early?) to see and sample. After all, I'd bought and brought most of it. Draconis said of the stuff they had, I had brought about 75% of the selection and likely more in sheer quantity. Draconis played it up as the crowd formed.. and then he finally let on that it was root beer and ginger ale and the room almost emptied in disappointment.

A few folks stayed on, and a few more came by and stopped in. Root beers and ginger ales were sampled and compared. A fairly good time was had by those who did. I didn't get to sleep until about 3 AM, which is very unusual nowadays.

Some of that ginger ale was pretty good but some of it had a bit too much spice for me.

The stuff in the yellow cans, if you had any, was supplied by RCFM and that stuff packed quite a wallop of ginger. I think it might even have be more potent than Reed's.

heh heh...we didn't hand off any of our candy to the Iron Artist winners...ours is still nestled safely away in Brody's cupboard for later consumption :) Did you give candy to someone else who might have passed it along?

Unless something goes horribly, horribly wrong I plan to have your suit to you by MFF.

I gave you two large sandwich bags or such, containing one of everything (and two of the Twin Bing). There were also a few plastic shopping bags with more of most. I gave those to Brody to use as he saw fit for the con or whatever else. There were only a few of the Maple and the Caramel Bun/Nut Goodies. I assume some from those shopping bags were used by the con for things.
