Today's mail included a small postcard-sized letter thing from the bank with which I deal. Upon opening the letter I was surprised to read about a charge for insufficient funds in one account. Looking into it, I found it was an account I had closed - or thought I'd closed - last week. A trip to the bank was in order. Perhaps the account had only been zeroed and then charged for being below minimum.
At the bank, I spotted the fellow who had dealt with the account closure (which went easy as I had the money in that account moved into another account of mine at the same bank) last week. We exchanged friendly greetings and then I went into a mock-accusatory, "You!"
"I didn't do it!" he pleaded jokingly.
"Yes, you did. Remember last week when you were behind the counter?"
"Oh, I think I know what this is about. Let me see that." He reached for the notice which I handed to him. He looked at it for a moment. "Yep. I took care of that. Things went faster than I'd thought and when I noticed that charge I reversed it."
So the account has been closed and the charge for not keeping it above a set minimum has been erased. It seems this bank actually desires keeping my custom.
