Not the right approach.

It's rather disconcerting to be sitting at a stoplight and seeing via the rear view mirror that the car behind you is approaching... sideways. Fortunately it stopped before getting too close, and fortunately there wasn't much traffic so it was a fairly simple matter for the driver to get things straightened out.

It's also disconcerting to be driving on a street down a hill and watching the car in *front* of you tap his brakes and turn sideways. And then slide far enough out of the lane you are in so that you, by putting one set of tires in the gutter, can barely squeak by without losing any paint, before the sideways car rolls back *into* your lane. And then the two cars that were behind you thump into the sideways car. January, 1984, Albuquerque, NM. I was driving a (1968?) Plymouth Barracuda. The car in front of me - the one that went sideways - was some expensive new sports car.

A more recent close call was New Year's Eve, when tarsa and I made our quick trip to Michigan. Driving east along the highway in the left lane (well, of course I'm not doing the speed limit...) and someone heading west goes for a spin. Through the median. Right toward us. And it looked like he might actually wind up in the eastbound lanes, still spinning.

I hit the gas. We caught some flying mud on the roof but cleared out of the way for him, just in case. As it happened, he stayed in the median.

I'm glad you're ok and no damage was done.. but yeah that could make one flinch - gotta love living in Minnesota =)
