New Year's Day and Other Things

At Thanksgiving there was a bit of an early Christmas, and yesterday on New Year's Day there was a bit of a late Christmas. jmaynard and I went up to the Twin Cities and visited my sistaur for a few hours. We started with a nice dinner at Doolittle's Air Cafe, and after that opened a few presents and spent a fair amount of time petting and scritching dogs and the cat. There was also the sampling of various baked goodies and the packing of quite a share of them into a big tin for transport. A good time was had by all, or at least all who were there. Jay and I left just after sistaur's housemate returned, which was as well as we had been parked where she normally parks and there isn't much room in the Winter for three vehicles.

The trip back home was uneventful though it was nice having an XM set in the house so we could finish listening to a radio show indoors. XM satellite radio is very easy to get used to.

Part of the week or weekend was the clearing of part of the office at home. A pile on the floor passed my tolerance limit and I started to Do Something and that something was Committing A Neatness. Now there is another shelving unit in the office and a stand for a printer and fax machine and it looks good. The downside is that the table I use looks not so good by comparison. I think getting that cleared or at least much better organized will be this week's project. It's one of those "been meaning to" things and it's time to stop meaning to and actually do. That's true of a few things, but one at a time.
