Presumption
31 July 2003 12:28Every summer the place at which I work has a company picnic. And every year I do not go, for various reasons. The thing is, the way the invitation, if it can be called that, is worded.
___ I plan on attending.
___ My guest and I plan on attending.
___ I am unable to attend.
I don't return this unless someone asks for it specifically. Why? There is no right choice. I am not planning on attending. I am not unable to attend. I simply choose not to. That is, I refuse to attend. And that isn't considered.
