Last night after a light supper I got on the treadmill again. That's not so unusual. This time I was on it for rather longer than usual and also a bit faster than usual for much of that time. Hitting stride might have been it, though a couple fairly interesting television programs certainly helped. It didn't seem suddenly easier, just that I could keep on going longer. Overall, this is good.
I'm feeling the effects of that today. I'm not sore, but I do feel a bit tired. Not so much as need for more sleep, but a weird "peaceful exhaustion" if that makes any sense. What muscles I have are informing me, gently, not to try that again today, though not indicating "don't you ever do that again!"

Date: 6 Jul 2005 15:39 (UTC)I'm still taking things slow by comparison. I tend to start somewhere around 1.5-1.7 mph for the first ten minutes or so of warm-up and then I speed up, slowly, to 2 mph or just over. Last night I went to 2.5 mph and stayed there for some considerable time. I've tried 3 mph and found I'm just not ready to do that for any length of time and therefore anything faster is out, at least for now. I'm not trying for speed so much as "dwell time" so speed isn't a big issue, though it does feel psychologically better to be able to speed up.
