There wasn't much going on in the morning as I recall, but then I stopped taking notes. KT's cartoon diary may eventually show more. Closing ceremonies were in the (late?) afternoon rather than later in the evening, which was odd as there was stuff scheduled after closing. Was it over or not? It was not over, not really. I think it did give many folks the impression it was time to head out, despite what the schedule said.
The variety show wound up being late as last minute preparations took more than last minutes that were available. 2 showed up and was brought up to speed on the plans for the pop-ups in the show. The original plan was to surprise him, which was probably not that good an idea. Not knowing the situation, it could have been handled poorly or at least not in way that was being planned upon. Once he know what the gist of what was going to happen, things went smoothly.
I think the late time, after closing ceremonies, made for few acts (I expect many folks had gone home or just decided to wind down and get some rest) and a small audience (for the same reason). While I knew live theater could have snags, this variety show seemed to really bring that home for me. Maybe it's just that I saw more of what goes into it. Think of the line regarding sausages.
After the show, and after the Lili fursuit had a dark cape added to it to become Darth Lili (with the power of the Scritchie Force), Darth Lili was out and about for a bit. Some folks had a LED "light-sabers" (even after all these years, I still think they're very silly, in the movie or out of it. What can I say, I find Star Wars rather silly overall, and that part particularly silly) and some pictures were taken with those. I was hoping to get a couple non-fight shots, but it seems folks are addicted to doing things the movie way instead of thinking for themselves.
When Babs was sufficiently recovered from that outing, she, Squirrelly, Nefaria, KT, and I went out for a late supper. We eventually wound up at an Olive Garden (there seems to be one not too far from every con). I asked the waiter what they had that didn't have pasta. He was ready for that question and I was satisfied. When we got back, we generally decided to skip out of "helium hilarity" in which supposedly anything could be asked... but only after inhaling some helium to alter the voice.
Instead, we rested and sketched in Babs' room until it was about time for real rest. Or maybe we did that and then I skipped the helium bit. It was late and I was tired.
