Someone with Lupus needed to try to explain a day in her life to someone not afflicted. Thus was born Spoon Theory. It's an interesting read and an understandable, if only approximate, explanation of how life is different for some. I suspect one or two folks reading this might find it useful and more will likely find it of interest, thus I bring it up.

Date: 7 Jan 2005 20:34 (UTC)In his case, on those days, he feels bad about using the handicap parking, because he doesn't 'feel handicapped', but we know without that closer space, we'd have to, for example, stop walking around the mall a lot sooner, as non-level ground is his biggest set off. Because of that, we generally have to walk in malls or other places with super level floors or great sidewalks. And, preferably, no big crowds (a cane is not good for maneuvering).
Means you always have to think, though, even on the good days. :(
