Arrangements made
9 November 2004 12:24I now have the 18th and 19th of November off work so I can go to Midwest FurFest. I'll be leaving MFF early Sunday afternoon. I did find out that the Fairmont Glows parade (where I'd see those Belgian horses again, most likely) is on the 19th so I'll miss that this year. Fortunately there should be another, better chance to see them in early December.
I also have the 24th off, so
jmaynard and I can travel to southern Missouri before rather than on Thanksgiving.
I also finally found some good snap-on sunglasses (not the old flippy clip-on style) that are polarized and will actually be useful when travelling. I still need to gather up a few things for the MFF trip, but it's all stuff I can find locally without too much effort. Hopefully
kinkyturtle will arrive at the hotel before I do - and hopefully he won't be waiting around for me for just too long.

Date: 10 Nov 2004 08:02 (UTC)I'd like that, if it can be worked out. My reply to
kinkyturtle below shows my current travel plans such as they are.
If need be, I can adjust my sleep schedule to start and arrive even earlier, providing I have have a few days to make that adjustment.
Would you travel out to Schaumburg, or would we travel to your place, or try to meet up someplace else? I do hope that
kinkyturtle would be along (and driving) if we travel any as I am not fond of in-city driving, to put it mildly. As you know, I like to have a navigator, at least, in unfamiliar places.

Date: 9 Nov 2004 21:01 (UTC)So who knows how long it'll take to get to the hotel. :}

Date: 10 Nov 2004 07:54 (UTC)I had planned to depart around 7 or 8 AM, though perhaps I should depart earlier (say, 6 AM). The estimated travel time is about 8 hours. So I'd arrive in the afternoon (2/3/4 PM). I'm thinking that earlier is better in order to avoid the anything-but-rush hour traffic, even if it will be going the opposite direction. I'll try to call the hotel when I'm getting close so you'll have a better idea of when I might arrive.
As you can see in the reply above yours,
wendyzski has suggested dining together before things get truly started at the con. I don't know if that will work out, but I'd like to try for it.

Date: 11 Nov 2004 07:19 (UTC)Well, so much for Thursday then. I don't know about Friday - things get started on Friday and I still don't know what the actual schedule is (which is annoying). When I know about that - and KT's plans - maybe things can be arranged.

Date: 15 Nov 2004 07:58 (UTC)Finally having found a copy of the schedule, early Friday looks good. Things evidently won't start much before noon - though I do hope there is an early check-in or such set up (though maybe waiting till after the first crush would be better for me anyway).
What's a good place for breakfast? I don't know about
kinkyturtle but I am capable of being ready quite early in the morning if need be.
