vakkotaur: (no harfing)

I stayed up way too late last night, making sure the VCRs taped the Jimmy Kimmel show. $!#% ballgame throwing the schedule off. I got the show taped, though I likely clipped a bit of the intro on both tapes. $!#% ballgame throwing the schedule off.

The result is that I'm tired today. Tired enough to resort to drinking a can of Mountain Dew for the caffeine. Now I'm sort of awake. I'm still tired, but the nerves seem to be firing a bit more, if that makes any sense. It's interesting to watch myself appear to be awake but still not feeling like I'm really awake. The last time I really noticed this was in college after pulling a rare all-nighter and using way too much caffeine. I felt caffeine's other, non-stimulant, effects for a few days after that. I hope that doesn't happen this time - those effects are rather annoying. So no more caffeine for me today. Maybe I should have had something other than a Mountain Dew.

To the tune of (part of) Mother's Little Helper by the Rolling Stones...

Running for the shelter
of the programmer's helper...
But if I drink one more of those,
I might have an overdose...

I think I'll take a nap after supper tonight.

Next time try Gensing.... that always works for me.

Our tape may be complete - I can check and if it is you're welcome to dub it off... I don't have the facilities

Boy, have we got the facilities. Dubbing tape is easy. What do you want it dubbed to?

As it happens, I'll probably have the prebroadcast tape tonight. (This is the version uplinked to ABC, and doesn't even have the ABC bug in the corner.)

It does for me... I actually have to be careful how much I take unless I want to be wired ... if you are going to give it a try, I suggest starting with a small "dose" to see what your tolerance is like... I learned mine the hard way... "If a little is good a lot must be better!" I was up for close to 3 days followed by a 2 day crash and burn. I now know what works for me. The other thing some people find is they build a tolerance for it and have to lay off for awhile. So I only use it when I must.

Actually, er, um, I was making fun of your misspelling. It's actually "ginseng".

An introduction is in order... kinkyturtle meet my other personality Typo Fairie. She may not come out and grace a post or document at all. Sometimes, you may see a light tap with her wand. And other times she may beat the everlovin' snot out of what you've just typed. If you are lucky, you can catch her and undo before anyone knows she's been there and others... well... you see what happened!

Oh yeah! I think I've seen her work gracing some of my posts from time to time.

I read somewhere that people's need for sleep declines as they get older. I can believe there's a drop-off from infancy through adolescence, but I'm not seeing it in middle age. On the contrary, one's tolerance for all-nighters drops off.
