Most of the online "Which [thing] are you?" quizzes seem to miss the mark. Sometimes I think it is due to the quiz maker's getting things outright wrong and the result can be insulting. Maybe that's what they desire. Well, no point in feeding trolls, then. Other times it's that the questions lack truly applicable answer options and instead of a best-fit answer, one is stuck with a least-worst choice. These are a couple reasons I tend not to post results of such quizzes here.
A few recent ones, however, are interesting. The 'Which cartoon dog are you?' told me, on the first pass and despite non-ideal answer options, that the answer was 'Mr. Peabody'. Okkay, not bad. I can deal with that. I half expected it get things insulting wrong and indicate Scrappy-Doo, given how accurate such tend to be. I don't feel any great need to have the sign in my lj - chances are you've seen it already anyway.
The 'Personality Disorder Test' was also interesting. However, I'm not about to post the results here. That probably says a thing or two right there. I'm not sure I wanted to know what it said myself, right or wrong.
And swiped from kinkyturtle is perhaps the best one yet:
1) Full furry name:
Vakkotaur (or occasionally Vakko Warner)
2) Species:
Warner-Centaur/Warner
3) Favorite fictional animal:
Seems to change. Uh.. unicorn?
4) Favorite existing animal:
Horse.
5) Absolute favorite animal (fictional or not):
Warner/Centaur
6) Does your favorite animal have anything to do with your species?
Yep. Centaur, body of horse but also has hands.
7) How long have you considered yourself a fur?
A few years. Not sure when I realized it had that name.
8) Do you wish you were sooner?
I wish I knew the name sooner, I think.
9) What makes you unique?
You have to ask? Huh.
10) Do you wish you were more like your species?
At times. The variability and general ruggedness of a Warner
would be good, the world just isn't designed for taurs. Yes,
I have thought about this.
11) Do you own a fursuit?
No.
12) If no, would you like to?
I think it'd be fun - in the cooler/colder months!
Never in the summer.
13) Do you feel you have more fun as a fur?
Yes.
14) Do you hide being furry to the public?
It doesn't really come up. I don't go out of my way
to point it out, though.
15) Are you even somewhat of an anime fan?
No. Anime looks unappealing to me.
16) Would you be attracted to certain species if they
were depicted as anime characters?
No. Anime looks unappealing to me.
17) If yes, which species would they be?
Not Applicable.
18) Is there a particular species you're not fond of?
Insects & crustaceans, I suppose.
19) If yes, which is it, and has it affected your
opinion of certain furs in any way?
Not really.
20) Was this really just a waste of your time honestly?
Less so than most quizzes/surveys.
(I find it amusing and satisfying that the lj spell checker doesn't have 'anime' in its dictionary.)
I see another screwup in the making, too. In the lunchroom here, there is the standard assortment of vending machines. There is also a table with candy & chips for sale, set up by the "Rec. Club" and payment is on the honor system (or at least is from 7 AM to 4 PM now... they wound up locking stuff up the rest of the time a couple weeks ago). Today there is a new addition. A nice red cardboard store display for the Nestle products, proudly proclaiming Summer Fun and 99 cents for any three items. Not bad, but the standard charge, according the sign taped to the wall over the table, is 50 cents per item. Well, the display does say '99 cents for any three SRP'. Suggested Retail Price. Even if you don't think much of hypnosis, it's pretty obvious that some folks are gonna be very suggestible now.
ADDENDUM: Had a quick chat with the person locking things up at 4:00PM. It seems they actually thought it out and got a deal on the Nestle stuff. It really is 3 for $0.99.
