Getting the bad out of the way, I evidently didn't properly re-seal a bottle of oil I keep in the trunk and now the carpetoid trunk lining is soaked with oil and so is about everything touching it. That includes one side of a wooden folding chair and one side of a suitcase. At least the oil didn't get through the suitcase and cause any more problems.
The room I wound up with was a smoking room and smelled like it, though it wasn't as nasty as it might have been. I double checked the reservation information and found it lacked any indication of a smoking preference.
The laptop seems to be getting a bit flaky as it wouldn't recognize a USB device and that meant that reading the cards that the camera uses wasn't going to happen. And looking things over, it looked like even if that had worked, the USB hub/cardreader probably has a problem as when I put the CF card, it was like it wasn't there at all. Not just not properly recognized (the key drive I tested things with was at least seen as something) and simply not electrically there.
And now the good, despite being well into Cedar Rapids the place was fairly easy to get to and from which I really appreciated the next couple nights. While I've stayed at this place before, this time I was driving and therefore had to navigate. I'm feeling a bit more comfortable about it now, even with the goofy exit from I-380 to get to the exit to Collins Road thing.
The wireless internet worked once I finally figured out what I was doing wrong all this time. I went in rather hoping to find an ethernet jack and not have to fiddle with wireless, but that choice wasn't there.
Also, while unpacking I found the belt buckle that I'd bought at WIRF and then wondered where it was. I'd put it my hat to keep the buckle from rattling around on the way home from WIRF and then despite moving it around I'd not noticed it again until taking the hat out of the car in Cedar Rapids.
The hotel exercise room had a very nice treadmill and I took advantage of it, at least on Friday. The Blimpie's not too far away had a very good marble rye.
