LiveJournal has now added the ability to embedded video into posts. Fortunately the one thing they got right was having it never play automatically. Unfortunately they also included some AcvtiveX code on seemingly every page (users and friends list). This wouldn't be so bad if IE wasn't blisteringly st00p1d about things when the annoyance and security hole that is ActiveX is rightly disabled. If that was the case, it would be quiet and things would just work. That is not the case.
Instead, every time a page almost loads, a harassing warning dialog pops up as the page stops rendering, to tell me I've disabled ActiveX. This is quite annoying. At home, it's a non-issue. I just use Opera and have things pretty much my way. At work, due to the proxy, I'm stuck with IE. So now I get to see (and hear) that #@&% dialog every time I load an LJ page, or enable ActiveX and hope nobody uses it for evil (riiiiight).
DIE ACTIVEX, DIE!!!
UPDATE: It seems to be the same wretched nonsense as used for phone posts. The one upside to this is that it only shows up on pages with the embedded video and not every page. Hopefully folks will be clueful enough to post links (which are simple, and work without restriction) rather than doing silly embedding.
