ah discoveries

I think that this world may be flat. More or less. I haven't worked out exactly how the sun works.

Possibly the heroine won't find out, either.

the wonders of inspiration

I ripped off an idea from another story.

I was just looking back at that story and realizing how little of it came away, in part because it grew into the rest of the story ideas.   I look at it, and I know for a fact that the villains grew out the idea, but they were entirely different from the villains of the story he came from.

Inspiration is strange.

fun in the foundation

Went back to rework the opening and make it a firmer foundation. Had to know how the heroine discovered her powers up front to work on her making more subtle discoveries.

Am discovering bits and pieces that do not add up.

The heroine chooses which way to go based on severely limited information. She is going to have to learn what was the other way at some point -- in particular, because she meets some people on the way, and they had to have a reason to be there.

knowledge and power

How do the characters learn their new powers?

I scorn to use pop-ups. Besides, this isekai is not a RPGlit even if the heroine acquired a class, as many others do. So I say that the newcomers intuitively know what to do.

So now she has to learn subtle differences in what she had perceived as undifferentiated problems.

Intuitively.

The New School Reader: Fourth Book

The New School Reader: Fourth Book by Charles Walton Sanders

A 1856 book on elocution. Opens with discussions of how to say things, and then offers many samples of eloquent prose and poetry to praise on -- and to have your character formed by, since, as he writes, they were chosen toward that important end.

gonna need some backfill

The heroine  has been given the run-around.

She deduces it, but since "go heal those people' is something she should do, she tries to puzzle things out.

I am picking up the pace again, and thinking that section is really going to need some work.  I'm sending her to Mass, but it will take more.
